Analysis of communication channel and channel load kicked-off

For coordinating cooperative driving maneuvers, communication between the vehicles is necessary. The exchange of object data and realization of negotiation protocols is not considered in current definitions of V2X messages. In IMAGinE, specific, existing message formats such as, for instance, the “Cooperative Awareness Message” (CAM) as well as new message formats, such as the “Maneuver Coordination Message” (MCM) should be specified and extended.

Module for cooperative maneuver planning executable

On November 25th and 26th, 2020, another integration workshop took place at the IMAGinE partner Hessen Mobil’s DRIVE Center in Frankfurt/Main, in order to gradually integrate individual functionalities into the test vehicles and test them across partners.

Development of the cooperative environmental model completed

In November 2020, the IMAGinE partners were able to complete the work on the cooperative environmental model. The work carried out was in a joint subcontract and started at the beginning of October 2019. Since then, the development work has been closely monitored by the IMAGinE partners involved.

More efficiency through simulation

Simulation has become increasingly important in research and development projects. In IMAGinE, too, a simulation environment is used to develop and evaluate the IMAGinE system. This makes it possible to usefully supplement time-, cost- and personnel-intensive tests in real vehicles.

Successful integration workshop in Frankfurt/Main

On September 23 and 24, the IMAGInE partners from sub-project 4 - system and vehicle integration - met for another integration workshop at the DRIVE Center of partner Hessen Mobil in Frankfurt/Main. Objectives of the workshop were tests for sending and receiving complete Collective Perception Messages (CPM), tests of the cooperative environmental model and tests under realsitic driving constellations.

IMAGinE system put into operation

From October 8 to 9, 2019, the IMAGinE partners from sub-project 4 (system and vehicle integration) met at the DRIVE Center of partner Hessen Mobil in Frankfurt/Main for another integration workshop. Objective of the workshop was to ensure that all relevant vehicle data is correctly distributed from the partner-specific structures via the IMAGinE system and then into the air as a V2X message.

HMI concepts expanded to include uncertainty conditions

The aim of the IMAGinE work package WP3.5 "Driving simulation and driver behavior" was to expand the human-machine interaction concepts (HMI) to include real-life "uncertainty conditions" and to further develop cooperation-relevant aspects of driver intention recognition.

IMAGinE gathers pace – first results presented

IMAGinE presents the first results. During the start phase of IMAGinE presentations focused mainly on topics such as project purposes and the technical framework. After obtaining project results the presentations of these results started to gather pace. Since autumn 2018 partners frequently present their research work at dedicated events.

HMI principals developed for cooperative systems

The aim of the IMAGinE work package WP2.4 "HMI principals" (HMI: human-machine interaction) was to develop relevant HMI principals for cooperative systems, create initial design variants based on "ideal world" conditions, and to investigate their effects empirically.
